Paje & Jambiani

The east coast is where the lagoon glows turquoise and the trade winds blow steadily, making Paje the kite-surfing capital of the island.

Jambiani, just south, is quieter and more village-like — seaweed farmers wading at low tide, small guesthouses and long empty stretches of sand for morning walks.
