Nungwi & Kendwa

The northern tip of Zanzibar has the island's best swimming beaches — the tide barely retreats here, so you can be in the water at any hour.

Nungwi is livelier with dhow builders on the sand and beach bars along the shore; Kendwa, ten minutes south, is calmer and famous for its full-moon sunsets.
