Day-by-day itinerary
- Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your guide meets you in Arusha in the morning and takes you south to Tarangire, where ancient baobabs stand over the river valley. We spend the day following the river and watching elephants, giraffes and zebra at the water's edge. Your guide will choose a quiet place for a picnic lunch, and there's plenty of time to stop whenever something catches your eye. In the late afternoon we continue to Mto wa Mbu for dinner and a good night's rest.

- Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
We set out early for the Ngorongoro highlands and descend into the crater for a full day of wildlife watching. The crater floor brings open grassland, acacia forest and wetlands close together, so each turn feels different. Look for lion, buffalo, hippo and, with luck, black rhino. We'll pause for a picnic lunch near the hippo pool before climbing back out and returning to Mto wa Mbu for the evening.

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before the journey back to Arusha. If the timing suits, we'll stop at a local market in Mto wa Mbu so you can pick up a souvenir and see a little village life. Your guide then drives you to your Arusha hotel or onward connection, with time to share your favourite sightings along the way.
