Trekking
Approach from the drier northern side near Kenya — a wilder, less busy way to the Roof of Africa.
Rongai climbs from the dry northern side near the Kenyan border. It is the quietest of the main routes and the most reliable in the shoulder seasons because that side of the mountain catches less rain.
The scenery is more open and wilderness-like, with a wonderful camp beneath the jagged peaks of Mawenzi before the final push.

A beautiful, varied climb up the 'Whiskey Route' with good acclimatisation and a strong summit success rate.
